Lemon Haircut

I decided to make tuna loaf for dinner tonight and went outside to get a lemon when I noticed for the tenth time that our lemon tree could really use a trim. Well the weather was beautiful and Joshua wanted to be outside anyway so I got the pruning shears out and started at it. I think that I am starting to get the hang of it because I can see how the decisions that I made the last time I trimmed have turned out almost how I wanted to and how the whole tree is taking a shape that I like. Maybe someday I'll be as good as Jessica and my dad. Here is a picture of the tree after; I guess that I should have done a before picture but you can just look at the ground to see how much I took off. I wanted to do more but figured that I should stop if I wanted the tree to survive.

Parenthood summed up

Nathan today said something that struck me as being rather profound and representative of a parent's role in their child's life. He meant it literally but I think that it works as an analogy for all of the parenting that I have done so far and much of what I expect to do. So what did my beautiful first born say? "Mom, I need you to wipe my butt!"

Monday Monday

In the beginning of this New Year my company decided to add underwriting support on Saturdays. The optimist in me decided to volunteer working on Saturdays in an attempt to save money on baby-sitting for my 3 boys. In exchange for working on Saturdays I get Mondays off. So far I've used my Mondays to evaluate our monthly bills and see if we could trim it a bit. I tried to save money by combining our satellite TV and internet connection I figured I would save $50.00 a month by switching internet service providers. Dish Network customer service neglected to tell me that my Vonage phone will not work properly with a satellite Internet connection. After the installation right away I noticed how slow the connection was. It brought back memories of CompuServe and the dial up network. It created a 2 second delay on our Vonage phone. So talking on the phone was extremely vexing. It took a total of 5 days for use to decide the $50.00 savings was not worth it. I asked Natalie to visit Time Warner and pick-up a new cable modem. The new connection is now installed I feel like I am back in the 21st century.
